After Temps in the 60's....and we get this??

Snow plows going back and forth all night long, cars driving with their hazard lights on like it was the first snow they'd ever seen. When it was all over, we ended up with an inch maybe a little more. I guess the difficulty came in when it ended up freezing on the roads.

OK, kids pics, for what it's worth......

It is sort of tough to capture them on ANY type of image, because they are constantly darting here and there. maybe if i get some help taking pics I can get some better ones.

Ok...so I am REALLY sorry, I forgot the flash card at home. No pictures today, maybe this evening when I get home, if my dial-up will allow me that much. It started out pretty nice this weekend, but by Saturday afternoon, is was downright cold. By early evening the rain moved in and it was windy with 37 degree temps. Staying in the house as much as possible (in between chore times)was my best bet. I stayed froze MOST of the weekend.

Thank Goodness...

All kids were moved back out to the barn on Friday. Thank goodness!
All four are doing great. They are in an enclosure with high sides so the drafts don't get to them. They have a little mini heat lamp that hangs in the one corner, so they can get away from the heat if they need to. Not exactly sure how many I have left to kids out there. I don't think many. I do know that I did not get anywhere near the amount of does bred this year as I have in years previous. Economy played a huge role in that. Maybe I'll get some updated pics soon.

Another kid of the 2010 season has arrived

I got home from work tonight and went out to get chores done. I was getting the grain ready when I heard that all too familiar sound....."THAT'S A BABY!!" Now I knew the other three kids were the house already so it had to be the kid of another one of my does I had AI'd...HOW TOTALLY AWESOME!!

Meet Lisbeth's 2010 kid born 3-3-10 (a doe)

Sire: Copper Hill Tiger Tracks
Dam: Husker Haven FXR Bec's Lisbeth

She was sort of cold and every time I went out to check on her she was just standing there, I was hoping her mother would at least lay down and she would then lay next to her to stay warm. I decided not to take a chance. I don't think she got any milk so she is now in the house as well. When it warms up for just a day even they will all go back out to the barn....so, without further ado....here she is....

I just wanted to add, Thanks Dan!

Black Sox kids UPDATE

Kid #2 bounced back from his rough start and is eating and bouncing around.
Kid #1 had to be brought in the house Monday morning. I found him out in the pen laying on his side. So, he got to stay wrapped up all that day and most of today. He wouldn't take a bottle at all. It was good if I could get him to swallow just a few drops at a time. When I got home from today I got the bottles ready and I set him in my lap and he drank for a second or so and quit (which was the best he had done so far). So, I went out and did chores and tried to feed him again when I came in. He drank and drank and drank!! So all three are doing GREAT for the time being, as things go around here. We usually operate on a hour to hour basis for just about everything here!!!
