I had arthroscopic surgery on Friday, the 6th. The went in and cleaned everything out that they could, including a 1/2" chunk of bone that must have broken off a long time ago. The doctor said that has to be most of my pain right there.
I went in at 8 am operated on just before 10am and home by noon. Spent most of Friday in a vegatative state in bed. By Saturday night I was out in the barn (on crutches) helping my brother do chores. Sunday I think I was out there morning and night helping the best I could on crutches.
Today I get to take the bandages off, glad about that as the sock things to prevent blood clots are itching like crazy!

I went to the orthopedic doctor in June about my knee problems. They talked back and forth about what they should/could do about trying to get my knee working right. It was decided that I would get a shot in the front of my knee which I believe was to lubricate the joint. After about three days my knee felt great, like I had never had a problem to begin with. I could even run again, not that I ever ran all that much anyway, but the fact that I could was AWESOME! Then about a week ago or so I started getting sudden stabbing pains again. Not with every step, but maybe once every couple days or so. Well, Tuesday I night I had finished chores and had just gone to bed when the dog came up and whined in my face. Oops, I forgot to let the dogs out. I got up out of bed and took a half step and fell to the floor. The pain in my knee would not allow me to put any weight on that leg at all. I ended up using crutches to get to the back door to let the dogs out.
I managed to talk to the doctor on Thursday and actually get an appointment for the same day! Normally I can’t get in for a couple weeks but lucky me I guess he wanted me in there that day same day. He told me he couldn’t give me another injection because you can only have four of them in a years time. For some reason the fluid they inject can actually breakdown your cartilage. I figured that would be fine with me, I don’t have any left anyway, so why not. He wouldn’t do it. He said the only thing that he thought would help, short of a replacement, would be to have arthroscopic surgery.
In asking him how long I would be out of commission, he told me two weeks. Ignoring the time line he gave me, I said, well, if you do this thing in the morning I’ll have to be home in time to do evening chores. I told him I had goats that had to be milked. He asked if I had anyone that could do them for me and I said I suppose I could teach the dog how to do them but things are kind of hard for him sometimes since he doesn’t have opposable thumbs! I also just sent in all my entry forms for all my fairs shows on Monday so I have fairs I have to attend starting the last week of August. If I try to get the procedure done before the fair shows, I would have to dry the goats up therefore rendering my fair entries useless, not to mention a waste of money.
I think having it done AFTER the first week in September might be best. I’ll still be able to show the goats (using my knee brace and friends to help show). Once the shows are over I can then get everyone dried up, making chores only once a day instead of twice a day. At least until I can get around a little better, I’m hoping just a couple days will do it. I have a farm to take care of (small though it may be). Hay doesn’t stack itself and grass doesn’t cut itself. Yep, I’ll give it two days, that’s it....

Kashmere’s does are 350ea, one black and one red roan. Kashmere is for sale for 650.00. Sire of Kashmere is Kastdemur’s Joint Venture. Joint Venture is a son of GCH Kastdemur's Aubree (EEEE), the 2001 National Grand Champion, 2002 RGCH with best udder.
Our queen of the Fleet Kiwi, N1229574, 8 year old, is a permanent CH and last year appraised EEEE 91. Kiwi is Kashmere’s mother and is for sale for 450.00. One of Kiwi’s buck kids are for sale this year for 600.00, sire is Kastdemur’s Joint Venture.Skor, N1419461, is a Kismet doe that we purchased as a bred SR yearling that turned three this year.
Skor was the First place 3yr old this year at the District IV INBA show at London Ohio. Skor is for sale at 650.00. Skor’s yearling doe, Sky N1486721, from last year is 450.00, she might be bred. Skor and Sky are red roan.
Willow, N1412700, purchased as a kid from These Girls Rock Nubians is a big solid red doe, as a two year old placed behind Kiwi as a RGCH at the SWODGA show in 2009. Willow is open this year, could not get her settled AI. Willow is for sale for 650.00, and her yearling doe Whisper, N1484563, from last year is for sale for 450.00. Willow’s son Wachovia is the sire of most of the kids this year.

The wind from the last storm we had go through, although it didn't last long, it changed my view to the north forever. My largest apple tree (old cider apple tree) blew over. It was LOADED with apple this year. I tried a couple of them after the mishap, and they were actually good. They are smaller because they weren't done growing yet but I think I still may be able to use them for cider making. I may give that a try.....

Mission Complete.........
The 2010 Kidding Season ended Wednesday, with twin does. The 2010 Kid Count ended up with 4 doe kids and 6 buck kids. A far off count to the years when I would have 25+ kids total.

I would say it was the first REAL storm we've had so far this Spring. The wind blew from the front and then the rain came. Seems like it was over before I got back in the house from chores. Don't get me wrong, it rained until after I was asleep, but I don't think we got all that much. It looked a lot more intimidating on its way in than it turned out to be...
